Once again, 30 nationally recognized plein air artists gathered in Telluride, Colorado

for the 6th Annual Telluride Plein Air celebration of outdoor painting.

The artists have voted! Following long days of painting, each artist chose

their favorite painting of the festival. Then the paintings went up for vote by

all 30 plein air artists. Here are the winners:

Artist Choice 1st Place - $1,000 Cash


Niles Nordquist "Gold King Basin"

Artist Choice 2nd Place - Framing Award from Mountain Edge Frames

 

Wayne Mckenzie "Looking Down"

Artist Choice 3rd Place - Framing Award from High Plains Frames

 

Lana Rak "Bon Appétit"

Quick Draw Winner - $800 Cash

The 2009 Telluride Plein Air Quick Draw competition winner was Lana Rak with her piece entitled "Bon Appetit". The Plein Air Quick Draw was judged by the AhHaa School for the Arts.  Lana's piece was then featured at the 2009 AhHaa School Art Auction to benefit this extraordinary local art program. Participants in this year’s Quick Draw contest were limited to the Main St. area in downtown Telluride and given 90 minutes to prepare their painting.
